Elections for next years DUPSA committee are taking place this Thursday (the 29th of March). The speeches and elections are going to be held at 7pm in one of the LTEEs (to be confirmed). After this, we’ll be having our LAST WINE RECEPTION of the year in the Atrium as usual.

So second years, if you think you have what it takes and want to get involved, RUN FOR DUPSA! Ask any of the committee this year (even Dee), being part of DUPSA was so much fun. It was such a great year and we all enjoyed it far too much. So please run! The more competition the better. (ie. People might write decent speeches.)

Positions up for grabs are as follows:

  • President
  • Vice-president
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Public Relations Officer
  • Ents Officer

Nominations are on the night, followed by the speeches and the voting. The winners will be announced at the wine reception AND THEN we get to show the new committee members how to clean up afterwards. Cannot wait. It’s going to be great.

Like, really great.

Hugs, kisses and love from your soon-to-be-replaced DUPSA committee

We had a presentation from the Irish Pharmacy Union last Wednesday evening. Many thanks to IPU President, Darragh O’Loughlin and Bernard Duggan who is the chair of the CPC for taking the time to come and talk to us. The presentation was extremely informative and outlined the role of the IPU and its involvement in community pharmacy.

Thanks to everyone who made it down!

This Thursday (1/3/2012), we’ve organised a karaoke night in Captain America’s for everyone who’s partial to a bit of public embarrassment. Event starts at 7.30pm with Karaoke kicking off around 8.

It should be a great night - do come along if you can!

In other news, we’d like to sincerely thank the Irish Pharmacy Union for sponsoring the ball this year. Their support is greatly appreciated.

Also, the charity raffle held at the Pharmacy Ball raised over €300 for the Children’s Leukaemia Association. If anyone would like to know more about the charity (or make a further donation) you can find everything on their website at http://www.cla.ie/.

Pharmacy Ball 2012

Girls Final

The final of the girls league proved itself to be a competitive game of fierce physicality as both sides turned out performances worthy of the Quigley Cup. However, the 3rd year girls really brought their A* game and following a hat trick from Eimear “tricky” Casey they managed to beat the second years with a 5 - 3 victory.

*A here refers to Áine.

Boys Final

Following a gritty semi-final game, I have a Knife; Get in the Van faced Hangover 96 in the final of the boys league. In the end, I have a Knife; Get in the Van defeated the 3rd years 11 - 5 with a show stopping performance. With Oisín Daly scoring 4 goals and Robert Howard James’ hat trick, the team proved themselves to be worthy champions of the 2011/2012 Pharmacy Soccer League.

The final tables for top scorer will be updated shortly. Prizes will be presented at the Pharmacy Ball next week.

The Pharmacy Ball is taking place on the 16th of February in Clontarf Castle. Everything from the organisational end is wrapped up pretty well at this stage. Ticket sales are next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the top of the LTEE stairs. (That’s the 6th, 7th and 8th of February).

The night is chocolate-themed and the event is going to kick off with a Prosecco and Chocolate Fountain reception so make sure you get there early! After that, the event follows the routine of past years- we’ll have scandal sheets (courtesy of the class reps) and an awards ceremony somewhere between dessert and dancing time. We’ll also have the presentation of the prizes from the soccer league.

At the end of the night there’ll be buses going into Harcourt Street. Tickets for these are very limited and can be purchased alongside your ball ticket next week.

Throughout the night there will be a large slideshow of photos from throughout the year. If you have any photos worthy for such display please send them to Sarah as soon as possible. Also, don’t forget to contribute to the scandal sheets- you can get in touch with your class reps for this.

That’s all for now

As always, mystery tour was incredibly entertaining! (Navan and Dundalk for those of you who don’t know…)

A number of things have been lost and found. Give Dee an email there if you’re missing anything/have acquired new belongings and we’ll try and sort you out! The inventory is starting to look impressive. Any contributions sent in amusing emails shall be appreciated…

We’ve decided to end the term with a suit up wine reception next Wednesday, the 14th of December. 7.30pm in the Pharmacy Atrium as usual. It’s going to be delightful.

We’re all very excited about this. If you are too, the very last day to buy your ticket is next Monday the 28th of November. Needless to say, the creeper camera isn’t coming with me on this. You can all enjoy yourselves in peace.

Ps. Apologies for the website address typo. Shame on me.

So far, the soccer has been great! Possibly ironically, the best match so far was last Thursday after the wine reception.

There are also some individual stats being drawn up but they’re pretty boring at the moment so I’ll wait for another few games to be played before I post them.

However, I can tell you that our top goal scorer at the moment is Michael Farrell of Clem Weezers. He’s got 7 goals to his name following a spectacular double hat trick on Thursday. Next in line is Fah-head himself with four goals.

Let me know if anyone has any queries about any of the stats.

Otherwise, enjoy and keep it up!

hugs and kisses
